This year, I am making it my mission to discover m This year, I am making it my mission to discover more expertly crafted wines from all over South Africa. Learning more about wine has become such a passion for me, and writing recipes that complement fine wines is one of the aspects about my job that I love most. These two wines from the Cellar Master Series at @survivorwines are stellar examples of the unique terroir from the Tradouw area in the Klein Karoo. The Pendulum 2019 - a Cab Franc / Merlot, is bold and vibrant, with concentrated fruit and great stability. The Chardonnay is beautifully balanced with just enough oak and freshness, and a distinctive flinty character. These are the type of wines that I look forward to savouring in 2023, and I cannot wait to see more of what acclaimed winemaker Pierre Wahl brings forth. My motto for this festive holiday has been to keep My motto for this festive holiday has been to keep it effortless, as far as possible. It means less stress, more time spent with my people, and more down time for myself. So for the last meal of 2022, I’m grateful to be feasting on this fabulous selection of cheeses, crackers, mezze & Cap Classique, all courtesy of @checkers_sa, mostly from their Forage & Feast range (yup, the glassware too). Thanks to @checkers_sixty60, I’ve been able to skip the queues, with the friendly delivery guys driving right to my front door at the very end of Keurboomstrand (the closest Checkers is in Plettenberg Bay, so I’m VERY grateful for this service, freeing up at least a two hour shopping trip at a time, considering the extra traffic and crowds of people).

On Tuesday I had the utmost pleasure of “Tasting On Tuesday I had the utmost pleasure of “Tasting The Veld” at @capegracehotel’s Signal Restaurant, where they also celebrated being named “Best City Hotel in Africa 2022” by @travelandleisure magazine. We tasted rhino bush, buchu, snowbush and Cape mountain sage - all delectably prepared as part of a new menu at Signal Restaurant, and available to the public (reservations recommended). What a sublime lunch! I also had the pleasure of staying over at the @capegracehotel that evening, after a superb plate of fish and chips at their Besqual Bar, with stellar views of the harbour and Table Mountain. The level of service and attention to detail was unrivalled - they deserve their recent accolade indeed! Thank you to GM Leon Meyer, PR Magriet Potgieter and every staff member that made me feel like royalty. Your passion for hospitality excellence is tangible. 🥂 More highres photos to follow soon.

This large yellowtail fillet (ordered via the @abalobi_app - pristine quality delivered to your door) is so easy to prepare, and it comes with baked fennel, tomatoes and red pepper - Mediterranean simplicity personified.
