A festive snack wreath with cheese and cracker truffles

What would the festive season be without a classic, trusty snack board? A laid back selection of cheese, crackers and fruit is the simplest and most popular way to entertain a crowd.

No snack board is complete without the addition of some of your favourite crackers, and the selection from Bakers Biscuits’s Snacktime® Assorted Crackers has something for everyone. This season, I’m taking a few extra minutes to whip up a simple cheese and cracker truffle mixture, which I roll into small balls and then into more cracker crumbs. They’re crowd pleasing, every time; and friendly on the budget too!

Eat them as is, or sandwich them between two of your favourites from the Bakers Snacktime® range, along with any other toppings you love. Here’s the easy recipe: (and check out my how-to video on Instagram)

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘀:

230 g plain cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup grated cheddar
½ teaspoon smoked paprika, plus extra
salt & pepper, to taste
5-6 Bakers Snacktime Assorted Crackers, crushed
a little fresh chives, finely chopped (to serve)

To a medium mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, cheddar, paprika, salt & pepper, and half the crushed crackers. Mix well with a spatula and/or fork. Roll teaspoons full of the mixture into balls, dip all over in the remaining crushed crackers, and serve at once with a dusting of paprika and a sprinkle of fresh chives.

Note: For a softer filling (that’s slightly less easy to handle) and crunchier exterior, omit the crackers in the filling, refrigerate well, then roll into balls. Prepare a chunkier crushed cracker crumb and roll the balls in it. Serve at once.
