Have you ever cured olives at home? This recipe wa Have you ever cured olives at home? This recipe was given to me by the team from Tokara Olive Shed earlier this year, and I recently bottled my own kalamata olives after brining them for many weeks (I sometimes forget about them for a while, and then I continue the process - it's all very forgiving!). I used my oldest vintage Consol jars for bottling - the kind that still says "INMAAKBOTTEL" on the front. I bought it at a church bazaar "wit olifant" table many years ago from a woman who must have been at least 80 years old, so I suspect these bottles might be 60 years old by now? Maybe older? Perhaps someone knows Consol's history?? Anyway, it's the International Year of Glass 🥂, and this beautiful old glass jar makes me SO happy! I absolutely love any kind of dumpling or wonton w I absolutely love any kind of dumpling or wonton with a zippy dipping sauce, but I never realized how easy it is to make at home until I tried this recipe. These spinach and pork wontons are a breeze to make, and the punchy stir-together sauce requires no extra cooking. I steamed them in my Philips All-In-One Cooker – it has a handy steaming tray – but you can also boil them in water (or even pan-fry!). McCain’s Frozen Garden Spinach takes all of the veg prep out of the equation too, and there is zero waste because you just use as much as you need. Sunshine in a glass! ☀️ This simple rooibos ic Sunshine in a glass! ☀️ This simple rooibos iced tea is probably the easiest (and most cost effective) drink you can make at home. Sunny winter days call for some colour, don't you think? ❤️🧡💛 This jug is @consolglass's iconic 1 liter preserving jar with Consol's special adapted lid for pouring. I've used my 1 liter jars for anything you think under the sun - from preserving jam and syrupy fruit, to storing homemade sauces and custards, grains, beans, and everything in between. If you've never made iced tea, here's how to: 1) boil your kettle, 2) place 2 rooibos tea bags in your 1 liter jar, 3) add 4 teaspoons sugar or honey, 4) top up with boiling water and give it a stir. 5) Let it cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate. Serve over ice with your choice of lemon slice, cucumber slice, fresh herbs like mint, a sliver of orange rind - the possibilities are endless! And kids love it too. Last week I had the ultimate privilege of cooking Last week I had the ultimate privilege of cooking with a fresh black Perigord truffle, thanks to the team from @anthonijrupertwyne. 🖤 They sent me a 33g truffle, along with a packet of handmade truffle tagliatelle, a log of truffle butter and a bottle of their Cape of Good Hope Serruria Chardonnay. Needless to say, PURE HEAVEN on a plate! Thank you team Anthonij Rupert!! Friends, this past weekend we stayed in a fabulous Friends, this past weekend we stayed in a fabulous remote spot near Bonnievale with friends - I took 3 premium Pinotages 🍷🍷🍷 along for an informal tasting, courtesy of the Pinotage Association of SA (@pinotagewines). Three incredible wines, each with a strong character of its own, each with unique food pairing possibilities (we even had a suggestion of zebra steak 🦓 with chocolate sauce! 🍫).
