Well it’s about time! I’ve been contemplating starting a blog about my “food life” for years, and I have finally taken the time to start The Food Fox – my new blog on WordPress.

2010 has been a big year for me personally: I ended up in hospital with meningitis the day after I found out I was pregnant with my first child, but thankfully managed to give birth to a beautiful and very healthy daughter in November. A few days later I turned 33. I’ve always thought that being in your 30’s is probably the nicest spot to be in, agewise. You’re finally finding out what it is that you love to do, and you finally have the courage to make it happen. FOOD MAKES ME HAPPY! This year I am going to surround myself with only the most glorious of food ingredients, recipe books, kitchen gadgets, farmers markets etc, and find a way to make my ultimate dream happen: hosting a fantastic tv show about food in SA.

I have started drawing up my plans for the tv show, and will tell you all about it as I go along. In the meantime, I am going to tell you about food in my life. The stuff I make at home, the places I go to shop, the restaurants I discover, the ingredients I love, the people I share it with. And hopefully I can show you a new way to find pleasure in your own life! That’s what makes food so universally appealing.

In the meantime, I will start to follow the blog veterans, and take tips from the seasoned pro’s. Please make suggestions on who’s blogs you think might be my kind of reading material.

Soon The Food Fox will sniff out the best SA has to offer for foodies. Over and out.

  2. love the tomatoes on the home page… I am looking for a healthy but awesome salad that even our hearty men can love… any ideas?

    1. I also love the tomato pic! It was my first try on food photography yesterday afternoon. Very stoked!
Salad: Schalk loves any salad that also includes meat. So a smoked chicken salad is always a winner. Even a panfried spicy chicken strip salad – very tasty! I just toss it with crispy leaves, roma tomatoes, cucumber, and any great dresssing or just the best olive oil you can find. You can add lots of feta cheese if Tim isn’t against it. 🙂

    Hey skat!
On the salad topic, I always roast some sunflower seeds in a warm, dry nonstick pan (no oil or anything) for a few minutes until they are just a little brown on the outside – it changes the whole taste of a salad and works with everything! Mmmm!
    xx
